The 2007 Vexxum uses “Half & Half” technology with a single wall aluminum barrel married to a “Flex Tuned” composite handle.

The barrel is made of new high KSI strength DX-1 high performance alloy. It has an n2m end cap which is scientifically tuned to return energy to the barrel while absorbing the unwanted frequencies that cause bat sting.

The “Flex Tuned” composite handle helps lengthen the sweet spot by eliminating sting and speeding the barrel through the hitting zone. The handle also flexes before and after impact, effectively increasing swing speed with no additional effort. The Vexxum’s handle is designed to perform best at slow-pitch pitch speeds.

It features DeMarini’s bat rotation index on the barrel and Wilson’s Positack textured grip. It is available in 26, 28 and 30 ounces. It is gray and orange with silver and black graphics.

We hit the 28 ounce version.

This is the first single wall aluminum bat to feature new technology in half a dozen years. DeMarini went away from thinking of the single wall as a simple stick swaged from a single piece of aluminum tube, and created a hitting system that uses technology developed for higher priced, multi-wall bats.

“It is a very nice single wall bat,” said one tester. “It feels great in the hand; when you take a swing it feels even better. It has many of the same characteristics of the F2 – just a bit less pop.”

For what it is, this is a very good bat. It feels great with the end loaded weighting helping speed up your swing to get the bat through the hitting zone. There is almost no sting except on balls hit way out on the end. And it has decent pop.

“Nice weighting on the Vexxum. It seems like less effort is needed for clean hits and good line drives,” said one female hitter.

But because it is a single wall bat, it does not compare with multi-walls or high-end composites.

“This is a very good single wall bat. (But) It takes a great deal of effort to drive the ball a great distance,” was one comment. “I definitely like the Vexxum over the Ultimate Weapon (DeMarini’s other single wall bat). Not exactly a top-of-the-line bat (compared to the multi-walls), but if you are in a single-wall league, you will probably be pretty happy with this bat,” said another.

And essentially, that is what the Vexxum is – the best single wall currently on the market.

“You have to hit it,” went one final comment, “it won’t do the work for you. But it does work and it doesn’t sting. An inexpensive alternative for good hitters because they will be able to get the bat to flex and hit it 300 feet, which really is all the distance you need. The Vexxum is hands down the best single wall bat on the market.”
