2019 Easton Project 3 ADV BBCOR Bat Review
The original ADV, the Project 3 ADV launched Easton's Launch Composite platform with a big sweet spot, a stiff carbon handle, and the Power Boost soft knob. Independent reviewers graded it a top-five BBCOR bat of 2019.
The Score
How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: The Project 3 ADV earns high sweet spot and feel marks for its big Launch Comp barrel and smooth, stiff two-piece build. Power is a touch below the best of its year, and value is limited by the high launch price and required break-in.
Our Review
The Project 3 ADV introduced the formula Easton would refine for years: a fully composite two-piece with Launch Comp barrel tuning for a large sweet spot, an iSo connection using Nitrocell foam to isolate the handle, and a 90 percent carbon DFS handle for stiffness and feel. The Power Boost knob adds leverage and comfort, and the Pro Balanced swing keeps it quick. Reviewers ranked it near the top of the 2019 class. As a first-generation composite it needs break-in and launched at a premium, so value rests on a discount, but the performance held up well enough that the ADV became Easton's flagship line going forward.
