2019 Easton Speed USA Baseball Bat Review
The 2019 Easton Speed is an entry-level one-piece USA alloy built for a light, fast swing and a big sweet spot at a budget-friendly price — a sensible first big-kid bat.

How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: The Easton Speed is all about value: it earns top marks there and on swing weight as a light, dependable, very affordable one-piece alloy. Sweet spot and feel are fine for an entry-level bat, power is modest as expected at this price and under the USA standard, and durability is good.
Our Review
The 2019 Easton Speed sits at the value end of Easton's USABat lineup and is aimed squarely at younger players and budget-minded families. It is a simple, dependable one-piece bat made from ALX50 aircraft-grade aluminum, which keeps it light and strong, with a generous sweet spot for an entry-level alloy. A 2.2mm cushioned Flex grip helps control the bat and cut down vibration. In the -10 it swings light and balanced, exactly what a developing hitter wants while building bat speed and learning to make consistent contact. It won't compete with premium two-piece bats on feel or pop, but it isn't trying to — it is an honest, affordable, no-break-in USA bat that does its job well and holds up. For a first move into a full-size USA bat, it is hard to beat the price.
