Why this score: The MAXCOR Hot Metal USA earns above-average feel for a USA alloy thanks to its two-piece, vibration-damping design, plus a wide sweet spot and a light, low-MOI swing. Power is modest as the USA standard intends, durability is good, and value is solid for a two-piece alloy.

Our Review

The 2020 MAXCOR Hot Metal USA is a step up from a basic one-piece USA alloy: it uses a two-piece design with a Hot Metal alloy barrel joined to a Black Onyx composite taper and handle, which manages vibration on off-center hits and gives the bat a smoother feel in the hands. The Hot Metal core runs from the barrel into the taper, and Mizuno's CorTech and VP Sleeve construction widen the sweet spot and add a lively, booming sound at contact. In the -10 it swings balanced with a low MOI, so it is easy for younger hitters to control and quick through the zone. For a USA alloy, the two-piece build is a genuine feel advantage, and it produces the dependable, no-break-in performance the USA standard rewards. A solid, comfortable value option for youth ball.
