2022 DeMarini The Goods Two-Piece BBCOR Bat Review
DeMarini's heaviest-swinging power bat in its two-piece hybrid form. The X14 alloy barrel on a Paraflex Plus composite handle is built for max damage; the catch is DeMarini's long-standing durability and warranty record.
Been on the market a while — keep an eye out for in-season price drops.

How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: On performance The Goods earns its name: the X14 alloy barrel and stiff hybrid connection produce legitimate top-tier power for a strong, fast-handed hitter. Where it falls short is the long game - buyers consistently report barrels cracking and connections loosening, and DeMarini's coverage is a one-year limited warranty with slow service, which drags down durability and value. A hitter who wants this power profile with fewer durability worries is better served by a more dependable alternative.
Our Review
The 2022 Goods Two-Piece is one of the most aggressively end-loaded BBCORs ever sold, and for a strong hitter who keeps the head through the zone, the X14 alloy barrel and stiff Direct Connection hybrid deliver legitimate, loud power. The performance is not the problem. Our reservation is the long game: these bats have a persistent reputation for cracking, the Tremor end cap and connection can loosen, and warranty claims can be slow to process. If you want this heavy power profile, a more durable brand is the safer bet over a season.
Also worth a look: Marucci CATX RCKLESS — A power-leaning, slightly end-loaded one-piece alloy with a long, lively barrel and Marucci's far stronger durability and warranty track record..
Insider Note
On a visit to DeMarini's factory in Oregon, I saw 4-5 pallets of broken bats waiting on warranty returns - and was told that's a normal day. Durability has always been the knock on DeMarini, and it's a big reason we steer hitters to brands that stand behind their product.
