Why this score: Value tops the card given how often this bat sells well under MSRP. Power and sweet spot are strong on the Tri-Zone barrel; swing weight is solid for a manageable.5 oz load; feel is slightly lower because the one-piece is stiffer; durability is sound.

Our Review

Miken built the 2024 Primo Maxload one-piece around its new Tri-Zone barrel, a 13-inch composite profile designed to spread pop across three zones rather than a single hot spot. On a one-piece frame the energy transfer is direct, so contact feels firm and immediate, with an A1 knob and Pro-Flex handle softening the grip end. The.5 oz Maxload end load is a middle-ground weighting, heavier than balanced but well short of a supermax, so it suits power hitters who still want some bat control. Reviewers consistently note it plays hot out of the wrapper. The trade-off of the one-piece design is more feedback on off-center hits than the two-piece Primo, and the stiffer build can sting on cold-weather mishits. Approved for USSSA, ISA and NSA play, it is a strong value at its frequent discount.

Pros & Cons

  • One-piece frame gives a connected, immediate feel at contact
  • Hot out of the wrapper with minimal break-in needed

Cons

  • Stiff one-piece transmits more sting on mishits
  • Less dampened feel than the two-piece Primo
