Why this score: The Vanta earns high marks for swing weight and value: a balanced, quick one-piece alloy that's currently selling well below MSRP, with Marucci's strong alloy durability behind it. Power scores a touch lower than end-loaded models because the balanced profile trades some mass-behind-the-ball for speed, but the ring-free barrel keeps the sweet spot wide and forgiving.

Our Review

The CATX Vanta is the balanced, all-alloy member of the CATX family, and it does what Marucci alloy does best: a big ring-free sweet spot, immediate pop with zero break-in, and a clean traditional feel. The swing weight is genuinely balanced, so speed and contact hitters can get the head through the zone without fighting an end-load. The Liquid-Gel dampening knob keeps feedback civil for a stiff one-piece. At its current closeout pricing it is one of the better-value alloy BBCORs available.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Truly balanced swing that suits speed and contact hitters
  • Ring-free AZR barrel delivers a wide, forgiving sweet spot
  • Hot out of the wrapper with no break-in needed

Cons

  • Balanced profile gives up some end-load power for stronger hitters
  • Stiff one-piece still telegraphs the worst mishits
