Why this score: The light CNC alloy barrel earns strong swing-speed and durability marks, and value is good. Sweet spot, power and feel are solid but trail a premium composite big-barrel, which is the expected trade for a one-piece alloy at this price.

Our Review

The Strato 3 USSSA is the alloy speed bat in Axe's travel-ball lineup, a one-piece stick built on heat-treated Armor Alloy Ultra and a CNC Precision Barrel that strategically removes weight to keep the swing quick. Unlike the composite WARP, it plays hot the moment you pull it out of the wrapper with no break-in, and as a one-piece it delivers a connected, on-the-barrel feel. The patented Axe handle keeps the hands on a consistent path and is easier on the bottom hand. The trade-offs are the usual ones for a single-wall alloy big-barrel: more feedback on mishits than a composite, and a sweet spot that, while good, is not as forgiving as a high-end composite barrel. For a young, speed-driven hitter — or a parent who wants a durable, ready-to-go bat without paying composite prices — the -10 Strato 3 is a sensible, well-priced choice.
