2026 Easton Pro 271 Maple Wood Bat Review
Easton's pro-grade 271 maple: a balanced, cupped, contact-oriented turn made from hand-crafted rock-hard maple at an accessible price.
The Score
How we score ↗The grade, density and grain of the billet — slope-of-grain, ink-dot certification, and whether it’s a true pro-cut. The headline for a wood bat. A primary driver of the overall score.
Barrel size and the turn-model profile (110/243/271/I13 and the like) — how much hitting surface and forgiveness the shape gives you.
How the wood feels and sounds at contact — the flex/stiffness of the handle, and the crack off a quality billet.
How well the wood holds up — density and grain quality (and, for composite wood, engineered toughness). Far more important on a wood bat than on alloy.
How hard the ball comes off for a wood bat — real, but a lighter factor here since wood isn’t about chasing max exit velocity.
Quality per dollar versus comparable pro-grade or composite wood. Shown for context; NOT factored into the overall score.
Why this score: A balanced 271 turn at a low price earns high swing-weight and value scores; power is modest by design and durability is typical for stock maple.
Our Review
Easton's Pro 271 cuts the balanced 271 turn from hand-crafted rock-hard maple, with a cupped end that keeps the swing weight light and quick. It is a straightforward contact-hitter's maple: easy to control, hard on square contact, and priced well below the boutique turns. It is not a power bat, and as single-piece maple it will sting and can crack on dense inside pitches, but for a balanced 271 gamer at this price it represents solid value. Easton also offers the same turn in ash for hitters who want a more forgiving species.
