Why this score: The CF Zen earns its long-running reputation on performance: a dependable two-piece Paraflex+ composite barrel with a big sweet spot and a balanced, fast swing, though it does pass a touch more vibration than its top rivals. Where it falls short is reliability and value — the CF line has a well-documented history of composite cracking and paint splitting, it carried the highest price in its class at $449.95, and DeMarini backs it with only a one-year limited warranty. It's a good-hitting bat, but buyers can get comparable pop with a stronger durability record elsewhere.

Our Review

DeMarini's priciest bat is back with new graphics at $449.95, right alongside the Easton Project 3 ADV, Slugger 919, and Rawlings Quatro Pro. If you've swung a composite DeMarini before, expect the same results. I was a little surprised to feel some vibration, though it's minimal. Personally I enjoy the feel of the 919 more.

Also worth a look: Marucci CATX RCKLESS — a proven, durable BBCOR pick.

Insider Note

On a visit to DeMarini's factory in Oregon, I saw 4–5 pallets of broken bats waiting on warranty returns — and was told that's a normal day. Durability has always been the knock on DeMarini, and it's a big reason we steer hitters to brands that stand behind their product.
