2021 DeMarini Prism+ Fastpitch Bat Review
The DeMarini Prism+ is a two-piece composite with a Continuous Fiber, Gapped Wall barrel and Type-V connection built for a huge sweet spot, but DeMarini's durability reputation and a high MSRP weigh on the value.

How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: One of the largest, most forgiving sweet spots in its class, but a $399 price tag layered on DeMarini's durability problems drags down durability and value and keeps it off our recommended list.
Our Review
The 2021 Prism+ (WTDXPZP21) sits alongside the CF as DeMarini's top fastpitch composite, taking a different engineering path: a Continuous Fiber Composite barrel with Gapped Wall technology designed to flex for performance while a Type-V connection maximizes energy transfer, capped by a Refract end cap that extends the barrel's responsive zone. The payoff is a notably large sweet spot and a hot, lively barrel that hitters who want maximum forgiveness gravitate toward. It is legal across ASA/USA, USSSA, NSA, ISA and ISF. At $399 it was one of the priciest fastpitch bats of its year, and that is where the calculus gets hard: DeMarini composite bats carry a long-standing reputation for premature cracking and dead barrels, and paying top dollar for that durability risk is tough to justify. The Prism+ is a genuinely good-feeling bat - we simply rate its durability and value honestly, and point buyers to lines with stronger track records.
Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick - benchmark feel and pop with far stronger durability and warranty support.
Insider Note
On a visit to DeMarini's factory in Oregon, I saw 4-5 pallets of broken bats waiting on warranty returns - and was told that's a normal day. Durability has always been the knock on DeMarini, and it's a big reason we steer hitters to brands that stand behind their product.
