2021 Mizuno F21 Power Carbon Fastpitch Bat Review
Mizuno's two-piece carbon fastpitch bat, the F21 Power Carbon uses a Dual Frequency Dampener for a clean feel and Detonator Cor tuning for a booming, low-compression barrel. A solid, often-overlooked closeout value.
Been on the market a while — keep an eye out for in-season price drops.

How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
Why this score: A well-rounded two-piece composite with no glaring weakness - balanced swing and value score highest thanks to closeout pricing. Sweet spot, power, feel and durability are all solid mid-tier marks. It trails the benchmark Ghost on top-end pop and feel, which keeps the headline categories out of the top tier.
Our Review
The 2021 F21 Power Carbon is Mizuno's two-piece composite fastpitch bat, joining a Black Onyx Carbon barrel and stiff carbon handle with a patent-pending Dual Frequency Dampener that uses two materials to cut vibration and reduce flex for higher performance. Detonator Cor tuning gives the barrel low compression and a booming impact sound, and cylinder seaming is aimed at keeping performance consistent across the barrel for durability. The result is a balanced, clean-feeling bat that hits hotter than its modest price suggests. It does not carry the brand cachet or the very top-end pop of the Ghost, and the stiff carbon handle gives a firmer feel than some flexier two-piece bats, but as a closeout it is a genuinely good value for a hitter who wants a dependable composite. For the benchmark fastpitch feel and pop we still recommend the Easton Ghost first.
Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick - the Ghost is the benchmark for feel and pop.
