How we score ↗How big and forgiving the barrel is — based on barrel length, construction (one- vs two-piece, alloy vs composite), and how it plays on balls hit off the center. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: Double Barrel 2 with Sonic Comp MAX gives a massive, hot zone.
Raw exit velocity and distance. We use measured numbers from freely available independent testing when they exist; otherwise construction and consensus, judged against the certification’s performance ceiling. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: Lowest legal compression produces top-of-category pop.
Comfort and feedback on contact — vibration dampening from the knob/connection, the sting of a stiff one-piece vs a smooth two-piece, and the sound off the barrel. A primary driver of the overall score.
This bat: ConneXion Evolution gives the most refined feel Easton offers.
How well it holds up and how the company stands behind it — documented cracking/denting reports, cold-weather behavior, and the brand’s real warranty record. Good to know, but weighted lightly in the score.
This bat: Sonic Comp MAX is more durable, but the line's record is still mixed.
Our take on price-for-performance — the overall package weighed against its cost and what comparable bats run. Shown for context; it is NOT factored into the overall score (price changes too often and is personal).
This bat: Premium-most pricing tempers the value despite elite performance.
Why this score: The most refined bat in the benchmark Ghost line: elite pop and the smoothest feel in fastpitch. It earns top marks across performance, dropping only on value given its category-topping price.
Our Review
The Ghost Advanced sits above the standard Ghost Double Barrel, and the 2022 version is built with Sonic Comp MAX, Easton's highest-performing and most durable Ghost composite. It uses the same Double Barrel 2 architecture, a lighter inner barrel inside a stronger outer barrel for the lowest compression in the game, but pairs it with a Power Boost soft knob for added leverage and comfort and a two-piece ConneXion Evolution connection that gives the bat its hallmark dead-vibration feel. The result is the most forgiving, smoothest-swinging fastpitch bat in Easton's lineup, hot out of the wrapper with minimal break-in. It is the most expensive option in the category, and like all Ghost composites its durability record is mixed, but for feel and performance it is the benchmark within a benchmark line.
