Why this score: Strong pop and a balanced, controllable swing put the Mantra 2.0 in the conversation among premium composites. It loses ground on feel against the Ghost and on durability against the best at this price, but discounted pricing lifts its value.

Our Review

The Mantra 2.0 is Rawlings' answer to the elite two-piece composite class. Its In/Tense carbon barrel runs noticeably thinner than the prior version, paired with a multi-step inner tube that redistributes mass for a lighter, springier feel and a wide trampoline across the barrel. It was also the first fastpitch bat approved for the Blast Motion swing sensor. In the box it plays hot with a balanced swing that travel and high school hitters can control. The knock on the Mantra family has consistently been durability and longevity relative to its price, so buyers should plan on using the warranty, and the bat sits behind the Easton Ghost on feel and overall polish. At deep closeout pricing it becomes a genuinely strong value for a premium composite, but a hitter chasing the best feel, pop and resale in the category should look at our top fastpitch pick first.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick.
