Why this score: A smooth, balanced two-piece composite with strong exit speed at a value price. The dampened feel grades a touch above the one-piece CRBN1; it still sits just behind the Ghost on top-end feel and pop.

Our Review

The F24 CRBN2 takes Mizuno's Black Onyx carbon barrel and builds it into a two-piece bat, joining the barrel and a new NanoAlloy handle with the patent-pending Dual Frequency Dampener connection. That connection is the story here: it smooths out vibration and gives the CRBN2 a softer, more forgiving feel on contact than the stiffer one-piece CRBN1, which is what most hitters who prefer a two-piece are after. The swing stays balanced and breaks in quickly, and like the rest of Mizuno's carbon line it delivers strong exit speed for the money. It lists below the premium class and is frequently discounted further, making it a strong value for a smooth two-piece composite. It doesn't quite reach the Easton Ghost on overall feel and pop, which keeps the Ghost our top recommendation, but the CRBN2 is an easy bat to like for hitters who want two-piece comfort without the top-tier price.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick.
