Why this score: Sweet spot, feel and swing weight lead — an ultra-light, forgiving three-piece composite with a smooth FlexWave connection. Power is the trade-off in the lightest drop. Value is fair at $249.99; the Easton Ghost Unlimited remains the benchmark for feel and pop.

Our Review

The Mantra -11 is the new ultra-light entry in Rawlings' premium fastpitch line, and the gram-shaving shows: it is built for younger or speed-first players who want to whip the barrel through the zone. The three-piece full-composite build keeps the PowerSync Tri-Zone barrel, with three flex zones meant to perform across the whole barrel, while the FlexWave connection turns vibration into a smoother, quieter feel on contact. The light swing makes it easy to control and forgiving on mishits, and the ball still jumps off the deep sweet spot. It will not deliver the raw power of a heavier, end-loaded fastpitch bat, but it is not meant to. At $249.99 it sits a tier below the Easton Ghost Unlimited, our top fastpitch pick for feel and pop, but is a strong, forgiving option for a smaller hitter.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our top fastpitch pick — the benchmark for feel and pop.
