Lab data: No independent exit-velocity testing published for MFPASRA12. Scores are set relative to the 2026 Asura Alloy (MFPASA12) it succeeds; will revise once hitting data exists.

Why this score: Performance categories sit a shade above the 2026 Asura Alloy on the strength of the ring-free barrel, but an alloy -12 cannot match a composite barrel for sweet spot or exit speed, and the overall reflects that. Swing weight and value are where this bat wins.

Our Review

Marucci's Asura Rise family for 2027 tops out with the two-piece composite Rise and Lux Rise; the Asura Rise Alloy is the budget door into that line. It is a single piece of aluminum from knob to cap with Marucci's ring-free barrel construction, which lets the barrel flex along its whole length instead of stiffening around an internal ring. The swing weight is balanced, so the -12 plays like a -12 — the 29"/17 oz is a legitimate option for a 10U or 12U hitter still developing bat speed. Marucci's 1.75 mm debossed Soft-Touch grip does what it can with vibration, but this is still a one-piece alloy: square one up and it feels great, catch one off the end and you will know. Sizes run 27"/15 through 31"/19 oz, it carries USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC certification, and it ships with a one-year warranty. As with the 2026 Asura Alloy it replaces, the case for this bat is price and simplicity, not barrel performance; hitters who have outgrown a starter alloy should look at the composite Rise or the Easton Ghost Unlimited.

Also worth a look: Easton Ghost Unlimited — our benchmark fastpitch pick once a hitter is ready for composite.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • One-piece alloy: no break-in, honest feedback, cold-weather friendly
  • Ring-free barrel avoids the dead zone an internal ring creates
  • True balanced -12 (29"/17 oz) that a young hitter can get around on a rise ball
  • $99.99 with USA Softball, USSSA, NSA, ISA and WBSC stamps

Cons

  • Alloy barrel is noticeably smaller and less forgiving than the composite Asura Rise
  • One-piece transmits sting on mishits despite the 1.75 mm Soft-Touch grip
  • Sizes stop at 31" — a bat to grow out of, not into
